Course History

The unique eighteen hole design of River's Edge Golf Club is due largely to a ten year gap between the construction of the South and North Nine. The blend of traditional and links style holes, adding to a total yardage ranging from 5300 to 7000 yards, compliment each other perfectly and offer a rewarding playing experience for golfers of all levels.

The South Nine, opened June 1 1994, was constructed and designed by Ed Engelhardt, a former Canadian Tour Professional and member of C.P.G.A. since 1965. In 2003 Ed and his son Michael Engelhardt C.P.G.A., started construction on their design of the North Nine. Construction moved quickly and the course opened June 1 2004, as a full length eighteen hole golf course with a new Pro Shop and a full fleet of Power Carts which will feature GPS in 2008.

After the floods of 2005, South number six, the par five that runs along the Sheep River was renovated, increasing the size of the water hazard in front of the green, adding two new bunkers on either side of the fairway and a cart path with a beautiful view. The course also saw the final phase of the clubhouse renovation done, with a new kitchen, covered decks with glass panelled railings and exterior stone finish.

Late-season of 2006 River's Edge opened a new set of black tees on the South nine, and in 2007 the new elevated green on # 17 increased the yardage (and difficulty) from 150 to 209 yards.

Our signature 9th hole (nicknamed "Waterworld") is a 184 yard hole featuring an island green surrounded by 360 degrees of blue terror. Our three holes in the river valley (A.K.A. "Hell's Valley") #'s 13, 14, 15 on the South nine will most certainly determine the outcome of your round.
